The Beers
Fellow Travelers

Shelton Brothers scours the globe, searching for the best beers to bring here to the United States. Along the way, we've encountered many kindred spirits -- people who are interested in beers made in small breweries by passionate artisan brewers. If you're interested in good beer, you'll surely be interested in what these people have to say on the subject:

Bierlijn (UK)
An importer/exporter of Dutch and Belgian beers, Bierlijn is a kindred spirit from across the Atlantic. Much like Shelton Brothers does in the US, Bierlijn treks across Europe, establishing relationships with small breweries, bringing the most interesting things to their customers. And they do it with flair. Don't believe us? Read their "FAQ."

Books About Beer: Tim Webb (UK)
Tim is one of the most read and respected writers among avid beer fanatics, especially in the many online circles, where his Good Beer Guide has obtained near legendary status.

Focusing on better beers, Tim has a low tolerance for fakes and for breweries with the audacity to mislead their customers.

You can see why we like him.

Vanberg & DeWulf (New York)
Shelton Brothers is linking to another importer? How can that be? Word on the street is that the Brothers Shelton only like their own beer! That's never been true, of course, and Wendy and Don import Saison Dupont, one of the best beers we've had. And we drink quite a bit. In fact, both Dupont and Slaghmuylder are on Brother Daniel's personal "Top Eleven Belgian Breweries" list.

B. United (Connecticut)
You'll find a true gem of a brewery here -- Dolle Brouwers of Belgium. Kris, the brewer at De Dolle, is a great person, and he makes some fabulous beer.

Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales (Michigan)
Ron Jeffries is brewing some of the most imaginitive and delicious beers in the USA, and we're very proud to support him.  We encourage you to do the same.

Heavyweight Brewing (New Jersey)
Is it coincidence?  We put a link to Heavyweight on our site and the next thing you know, they're closing down.  I give Jolly Pumpkin about six months . . .

RateBeer.com
How can we not like a beer community that's always looking for more factual information and that fosters civil dialogue? We do drink and import beer, after all, so thousands of people discussing the topic and asking the right questions is good to see.

Detroit Drinks (Michigan)
A web forum maintained by Detroit-area Cloverleaf Fine Wine, Detroit Drinks specializes in their own locality. But we can't help but love statements like this:

Many if not most consumer drinks are now “created” by chemists, flavored to appeal to broad taste and colored to register immediately with the most distracted observer. Not only would it be possible for a typical American consumer to encounter nothing else in a lifetime, it might even be more likely than not.

Some of these drinks are considered “wine” and “beer” and Cloverleaf sells them.

By now it can hardly be a secret that we are more interested in wines and beers in their, for lack of a better word, “original” state.
