Men’s Journal’s 50 Best Beers in the World
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASEShelton Brothers feel good about themselves again after Men’s Journal hits the stands!Shelton Brothers note with considerable satisfaction the release of the July issue of Men’s Journal, which includes an article on “The 50 Best Beers in the World.” The Men’s Journal panel in New York stolidly plowed through hundreds of beers in search of the world’s best. The final list included beer from all six continents (including Antarctica, sort of), though European beers account for 33 of them.Of the 33 Europeans on the list, we’re pleased to announce that more than half – seventeen in all – are Shelton Brothers imports. In addition, Men’s Journal has named Mahr’s Brewery of Bamberg, Germany as The Best Brewery in the World.
The Shelton Brothers beers selected for this exclusive list include eight out of twelve Belgian beers (including four out of the top five), five out of eleven German beers, two out of four English beers, and the only French and Dutch beers on the list.
The selections of the Men’s Journal panel were notable for focusing on quality, rather than marketing points and ease of availability. The list includes a surprising number of lesser known and sometimes hard to find beers from small artisanal breweries, in addition to some dependable and popular classics.
“Maybe now they’ll start taking us, and our cheeky little slogan, seriously,” commented Brother Daniel, “but I doubt it.” Then, perking up, he added, “This kind of recognition is what makes it all worthwhile for us. The Men’s Journal people did a great job going beyond the obvious. This list definitely does not suck.” Brother Will chimed in, “We’d like to see closer to fifty of our beers on the list for next year. We’re already in training.”
