Philly Beer Week

Philly Beer Week is here! Here’s the full Shelton Brothers schedule:

Friday, 5/30: Kick off the week with a De Struise tapping at The Iron Abbey starting at 5 p.m., then head over to The Loft for a Dieu du Ciel! tasting.

Saturday, 5/31: It’s “Showing Off Shelton,” featuring some rare and delicious Shelton beer, at Eulogy Belgian Tavern from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Then our very own Kevin Brooks will be talking all about British beer at Victoria Freehouse starting at 5 p.m.

Sunday-Monday, 6/1-6/2: This two-day event — nostalgically called It’s Jolly Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!  will feature 12 lines of Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales on tap at BRU from 1 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Monday, 6/2: Meet Bob Sylvester from St. Somewhere at Corner Foodery at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, 6/3: Watch Bob from St. Somewhere and Terry from Intangible Ales face off in a Beer Week quiz at Bainbridge St. Barrel House at 7 p.m.

Wednesday, 6/4: Enjoy a day of great British beer with “The Sun Never Sets on the British Empire,” an all-day (and almost all-night) event at Khyber Pass Pub, starting at 11 a.m. Also on Wednesday is “Around the World With Shelton Brothers” from 7 p.m. to midnight at Barren Hill Tavern and Brewery. We’ll be pouring drafts of Mahr’s Helles, Drie Fonteinen Zwet.Be, Adnams Broadside, Mikkeller/To Øl Betelgueze, and Nøgne-Ø Two Captains. Finally, over at the Prohibition Taproom is a St. Somewhere dinner starting at 7 p.m.

Thursday, 6/5: Enjoy tacos and Jolly Pumpkin beer — a winning, if unconventional, combination — at Jose Pistola’s from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Andorfer Claudiator release party is at Brauhaus Schmitz from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. (Side note: It’ll be the only bar in the U.S. to have this weizendoppelbock available!) Stop by Whole Foods in Wayne from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to sample some Jolly Pumpkin. Then it’s Shelton Brothers Night at Pinnochio’s Beer Garden in Media from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Keep an eye out for a possible surprise appearance from the guys at Naparbier!

Friday, 6/6: Unleash your inner Viking at “Doorway to Norway” at Khyber Pass Pub from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m., featuring beer from Nøgne-Ø, Haandbryggeriet, Lervig, and Ægir. You can also find Jolly Pumpkin tonight at Prohibition Taproom from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. Plus, there’s another possible event with Naparbier in the works.

Friday-Saturday, 6/6-6/7: It’s “Gose Gone Wild” at Brauhaus Schmitz, but please, beer geeks, keep your shirts on. The event will, as the name suggests, feature gose, a specialty German beer brewed with salt and coriander. The menu will include beer from Ritterguts, Freigeist, and The Monarchy.

Saturday, 6/7: Check out a Haandbryggeriet tasting at The Loft from 4 to 6 p.m. And don’t miss our Mikkeller Tap Takeover at Churchville Inn, starting at 6 p.m.   -JD
