Fantôme Chocolat

Fantôme Belgium

A Belgian saison beer brewed with cocoa powder and chili pepper? Ay, caramba! Score another one for the unpredictable brewery that was the first — and so far, the only — to make ales out of dandelions and mushrooms, among other things.

Fantôme brewer Dany Prignon confounds once again. With a name like ‘Chocolat,’ surely we have a deep, dark, rich beer — a stout, perhaps? Wrong again!

Fantôme Chocolat is actually pale in color, and the essence of the cocoa is very subtle, but experts agree that this is one of Dany’s best beers yet. Naturally, it will be exceedingly rare. If you can find it, buy it.
