To Øl Insane in the Grain Rustic IPA

To Øl Denmark

From the brewer:

“Friends, please welcome our new beer: Insane in the Grain! Our take on a rustic multigrain IPA, featuring both wheat, oat, rye and barley. Full bodied IPA with crispiness, elegance and complexity. As you can see on the three pictures, it just adds up with more grains!

For this beer we tried playing around with different grain varieties to alter the flavor and mouth-feel. On paper most grains like barley, wheat, oats and rye looks fairly identical. A big amount of starch and carbohydrates, alongside some proteins, some fats and varying degree of fibers. Especially the dietary fibers in the grains vary, from cellulose, hemi-cellulose, beta-glucans, pentosans, lignin etc. And the protein composition for each grain can be very different (that’s why the bread you bake can change so much in volume and texture, depending on the flour you use). These four different grains change the flavor, appearance, texture and aroma of the beer. You get sweet spiciness from the rye, well rounded mouth-feel from the oats, stout foam and aroma from the wheat and well, yes, barley is what makes beer beer! We are most certainly proud of how this rustic multigrain IPA turned out.

Dry-hopped with Amarillo and Simcoe, this piney-peachy resinous orange zest aroma goes perfect to the grains!

Despite all the additions of grains, we can’t really promise that you can cover your healthy wholegrain intake by drinking this beer.”
